Questions? 1-877-LIFEHOOK |
|
We believe the best way to check the credentials of a product is to ask someone who uses it. This is what several training professionals that use Lifehook® products have to say.
What has been your experience with the Lifehook®?
"Since the installation and utilization of the Lifehook, I can proudly say we have not had one injury because of a fall during the apprentice climbing schools."
- Chuck Herron, Electric Distribution Supervisor, City of Burbank Public Service Department
"The Lifehook gave me the peace of mind that allowed me to concentrate on my gaffing skills. Knowing that if I cut-out, the Lifehook would prevent me from falling, allowed me to improve my skills in pole climbing."
- David Spriggs, Apprentice Lineman, Time Warner Communications
How many people has your Lifehook® helped protect from a fall?
"Two students have fallen so far this year out of the six that we have trained"
- Steve Dyche, Technical Operations Manager, St. Joseph Cablevision
"I have seen about seven students have the opportunity to use the fall protection system while learning to climb."
- Marion Moore, HTC
"About 30 percent of the beginning apprentices engage the system during their climbing instruction."
- Nettie Dokes, Journey Level Lineworker/ Apprenticeship Manager, Seattle City Light
Did those who used the Lifehook® learn faster? Do you notice a difference in those who use the Lifehook® compared to those who do not?
"Yes, they learned faster if the instructor demonstrated the action of the device and helped them to gain the confidence that while learning the proper (climbing) technique they are safe from serious injury."
- Steve Dyche, Technical Operations Manager, St. Joseph Cablevision
"Yes, those that use it quickly acclimate to the heights. Overall, they learn the basic skills about 20 percent faster."
- Nettie Dokes, Journey Level Lineworker/ Apprenticeship Manager, Seattle City Light
How big of a factor does the fear of falling play in the success of learning to climb?
"It's a very large factor. But the device allows the climber to concentrate on technique without becoming overly involved in the fear of falling. Climbing is not a natural act for any new climber. Overcoming the fear of falling is a big factor in their success or failure in learning to do so safely."
- Steve Dyche, Technical Operations Manager, St. Joseph Cablevision
"It depends on each student. For some, not falling is the only thing. For others it is not a big deal. However, approximately 75 percent of the students are fearful of falling."
- Marion Moore, HTC
Does using the Lifehook® cause students to have a false sense of security?
"It can, but without it they could not gain the experience they need to become proficient climbers."
- Marion Moore, HTC
"Some, but usually the climber is jolted into reality of how important it is to keep their attention focused on the techniques required to safely climb a pole. Repetitiveness of the climbing practice, condition of the poles, etc. offer plenty of opportunity for the climber to make a mistake now and then."
- Steve Dyche, Technical Operations Manager, St. Joseph Cablevision
