Introducing the Lifehook® FB6
Height-adjustable lineman training safety systems
The patented Lifehook® FB6 best addresses the needs of the smaller apprentice training program. It is height-adjustable, allowing the climber greater acclimation to working confidently at extreme heights. Two Lifehook® FB6 units can be used in tandem for training two climbers on the same pole providing each climber with an independently-rotating, properly rated fall arrest system. In addition, each Lifehook® FB6 is compact enough to fit in the trunk of an average car for portability to train or requalify climbers at multiple locations.
The mounting bracket is adjustable so the Lifehook® FB6 can be installed at any height on a pole with a diameter between 6 and 9 inches. The mounting bracket features a special slot which provides hands-free positioning before installation and optimum stability afterwards. As a matter of convenience, the FB6 is furnished fully assembled and all installation hardware is included.
The new Lifehook® FB6 model features an offset arm that rotates up to 250º. The Lifehook® FB6 utilizes specific low friction bearings that provide faster rotation with less effort for a superior ability to stay aligned above the climber to better reduce the danger of a swing fall. For consistent performance, as well as increased safety and durability, the Lifehook® FB6 rotates on an axle of high tensile steel providing crucial reinforcement at the center of rotation to guarantee the unit will remain level with continued use.
The Lifehook® FB6 is designed to be used with a self-retracting lifeline and a full-body fall arrest harness with a dorsal D-ring. A typical self-retracting lifeline will arrest a free fall within 18 to 24 inches. Most self-retracting lifelines feature an inline impact indicator which allows the user to easily determine the working condition of the product during routine inspection. Once a load limit is reached, the impact indicator is activated and the lifeline must be taken out of service and returned to the manufacturer for recalibration. For this reason, many training professionals purchase two self-retracting lifelines to keep in rotation. Self-retracting lifelines are sold separately and specifications such as capacity, locking speed, arrest force, stop distance, and service intervals vary according to manufacturer.
As with all products that bear the Lifehook® name, each FB6 is proof tested to certify compliance with federal strength requirements. In fact, the Lifehook® FB6 is at least 10% stronger than all other products in its class. The Lifehook® FB6 is furnished with a durable Rust-Oleum® enamel coating. Lifehook® FB6 users receive maintenance and recertification services at no cost for 18 months. The rugged Lifehook® FB6 will outlast and outperform all competing products, yet it still remains affordable. Because it's a Lifehook®, you can be sure safety and quality aren't compromised for the sake of a low price.
